A back massager sample earns or loses its place in your range on structure, heat behavior and control depth — and, unlike handheld categories, on how the packaging survives freight. This checklist turns those observations into a repeatable record: the same format for every sample you compare, and a feedback document your supplier can act on.
Run the same evaluation on every sample under the same conditions, and record settings and results for each item.
Structure and fit checks
| Check | What to do | What to record |
|---|---|---|
| Placement | Fit the unit on the intended seat, chair or bed | Stability; gap against the backrest |
| Back module | Assess the thin soft back module (WY-C43) or mattress body (WY-CD8-F) | Bulk, rigidity, contact across the back |
| Straps and fixing | Fasten and unfasten repeatedly | Strap strength; attachment options for your market |
| Fabric and seams | Inspect covering, zippers and stitching | Material, seam quality, zipper cycling |
For WY-C43, also test the three replaceable massage heads: fitting, removal and the contact difference between them.
Heating checks
1. Heating plate (WY-C43 — listed 45°C ± 2°): Measure warm-up time and temperature stability at the contact point with a surface thermometer across a full session.
2. Hot compress levels (WY-CD8-F — listed 3 levels): Test each level separately and record the measured difference between them.
3. Unconfirmed heating (HT-CF-2309A, HT-C03): The model name or SEO fields reference heat, but the current specification does not detail it — test whether heating is present on your sample and record the result before any heat claim enters retail copy.
Listed values are settings, not verified surface-temperature results. Your measurements plus the supplier's method and tolerance together form the basis for temperature claims.
Massage and control matrix checks
- Mode mapping: For WY-CD8-F, step through all nine modes and nine intensity levels and build a written matrix — modes × levels × zones — before your manual or listing copy describes them. Include the fumigation function's behavior and any consumables it requires.
- Technique coverage (HT-CF-2309A): Test vibration, back shiatsu, the spot function and air compression separately, then combined; film the spot function holding on one area.
- Traction function (WY-C43 — confirmed): Demonstrate the cervical traction behavior and record how it feels and what is visible, so your retail copy describes it accurately.
- Noise: WY-C43 lists less than 60 dB at 1 meter — measure with a sound-level meter at 1 meter on the highest setting and compare.
Power and packaging endurance checks
- Vehicle use (WY-C43): Test on a DC 12 V auxiliary socket; confirm the supplied home adapter for your market's standard.
- Wired control (HT-C03): Verify the controller, cable length and 110–240 V adapter.
- Packaging endurance: These units ship in cartons of 2.5–10.8 kg gross weight. Drop-test the packed carton from typical handling heights and inspect the product afterward — packaging failures are the most common bulk-order complaint in this category.
- Master carton: Confirm count, dimensions and gross weight against the quotation before costing freight.
Turning the results into supplier feedback
Send the completed checklist with photos or video for any failed item. Agree acceptance criteria in writing before production, keep the approved sample, and re-check changed items — especially heating and structure — on a later approval sample.
Common sample questions
Should I test on a real car seat and a real bed?
Yes — placement differences are the top cause of returns in this category. Test on both scenarios your channel sells into.
What is the most common failure?
Heating claims and packaging damage. Measure heat at the contact point, and drop-test the carton before the container closes.
How long should the mode-matrix check take?
For a 9-mode mattress, half a day — and it pays for itself in manual accuracy and fewer support tickets.
